History
of our Class of 1964 Website I attended our 40th
reunion in 2004 and was dismayed by our being
shuffled off to a bar that was part of the hotel
lobby after the formal reunion proceedings were over
in order for us to visit with one another. It
felt like we were an afterthought to the over 50 of
us who had attended. I went around and asked
other class members if they would like a class
website so we could better stay in touch with one
another. I got an overwhelmingly positive
response. What surprised me was that I left
with everyone's endorsement to create it! I
didn't even own a computer, much less have any idea
how to create a website! I bought a computer
on the way home from the reunion and spent the next
forever in figuring out how to use it through the
creation of our website.
Our website was launched in October of 2005. It is for anyone who was ever a member of our Bellevue and Mills Schools of Nursing, Class of 1964. It is a private website whose purpose is to provide a forum for us to communicate with one another. What began as an outgrowth of our 40th reunion has now taken on a life of its own. It could not have been created without the unflagging support and guidance of Roger McCluskey who I met online. He is a computer programmer with over 30 years experience. I did the work but he helped me through every rough spot and there were many. He is still helping me when I run into problems. Unbelievable! Now some things about our website and how it can be used most easily. The Class List and Personal Pages are all password protected. When you fill out your registration and submit it, our web host will send it to me. I must type the information onto our website pages and upload the pages to our web host manually. If your information changes (you move, retire, you have more grandchildren, your name or e-mail address changes, etc.), please let me know. Also, if you know anything about any other of our classmates, I would appreciate your letting me (or them) know so we can reconnect. I also need to upload your Username and Password manually. If you ever forget your Username or Password, I keep an Excel file of everyone's Usernames and Passwords so you can contact me and I will get back to you with it. On the Class List page, you can access someone's Personal Page by clicking on their name in the left hand column. You can send them an e-mail by clicking on their e-mail address on the far right side. You need to be registered with a Username and Password to access the Class List (and subsequently the Personal Pages). If you have any questions about any of these procedures, I will be happy to answer them. Also, you can give me suggestions for changes or improvements. I will get in touch with you annually (at a minimum) to let you know the latest information and to ask for contributions toward ongoing expenses (which are not much). There is no charge to register or use our website. All contributions are voluntary. Lastly, creating this website has been both a lot of work and a labor of love for me. My greatest satisfaction will come from you enjoying and using it. I look forward to our continuing connections through the forum this website provides. Claudia Deyton |
